Supporting Animal Sanctuaries Through Healing

Updated: Nov 21

At Hazeology Healing, I believe in giving back to our animal companions, who offer us so much love and wisdom. That’s why I regularly visit two incredible local animal sanctuaries, offering voluntary healing sessions to the animals and, where needed, to the hardworking staff who care for them.

These sanctuaries are not just places of refuge for animals—they are spaces where deep healing takes place for both the animals and the humans who connect with them.

The Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary

Located in Bexhill, the Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary provides a safe haven for a variety of rescue animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, horses, cats, and dogs. It all began with Barby Keel’s rescue dog, and her love for animals has blossomed over the years into a sanctuary that now cares for so many deserving souls.

During my visits, I offer healing sessions tailored to the needs of the animals. Whether it’s soothing a nervous rescue dog, helping a horse overcome trauma, or simply holding space for a group of goats ( I do love the goats, they always make me laugh), the results are often profound.

The sanctuary is open to visitors on Sundays at certain times of the year and always welcomes donations, so if you’d like to support their incredible work, you can learn more here:

Seven Acre Horse Sanctuary

The Seven Acre Horse Sanctuary is another place close to my heart. It’s a refuge for horses who need care, love, and sometimes a new home. I visit as often as I can, not only to offer Reiki and healing but also to lend a hand in the stables and support their fundraising efforts.

We had a great fundraiser a few years ago that I will never forget for Victor the horse, even got him in the local paper. A lot of local businesses donated products for us to raffle off at our event where you could get taster sessions of Reiki, readings, massage and more.

It was such a success we raised what Victor needed to have his eye removed. If this procedure was not done, Victor would have been put to sleep.  So grateful to everyone involved and knowing that all those efforts went to saving his life, was a magical result.

Healing sessions with the horses are always unique. Some are eager to receive, while others are more reserved, but with patience and respect, they often open up to the energy. It’s a beautiful exchange that the horses seem to love, and it’s a privilege to be part of their journey.

The sanctuary is working hard to register as a charity, which will enable them to support even more horses in need. If you’re interested in contributing to their mission or learning more about their work, please visit their website:

A Hands-On Learning Opportunity

In addition to my healing work, I also bring students to these sanctuaries as part of their animal healing practice. This hands-on experience is invaluable for students, allowing them to deepen their connection to animals and refine their healing techniques in a supportive environment.

The animals love the attention and energy the students bring, often responding in ways that are both heartwarming and transformative. It’s a beautiful example of how healing can flow in all directions, benefiting both the giver and the receiver.

How You Can Help

Both of these sanctuaries rely on the kindness and generosity of others to continue their vital work. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, your support can make a real difference.

If you’d like to learn more about my healing work at the sanctuaries, or if you’re interested in joining me as a student, feel free to reach out. Together, we can help these amazing animals and the people who care for them.

With Love and Gratitude

Hazel
